Florida has officially passed a massive new tax relief package, totaling more than $2 billion in cuts for businesses and consumers alike. Signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis on June 30, 2025, the new legislation (HB 7031) delivers permanent exemptions, new tax holidays, and the full elimination of certain taxes.

Whether you’re a small business owner, a parent shopping for back-to-school, an outdoor adventurer, or just someone who enjoys saving money — there’s something in this tax bill for you.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s included and when you can start saving.

Business Rent Tax Eliminated

Starting October 1, 2025, Florida will no longer collect sales tax on commercial leases, ending the long-standing “business rent tax.”

  • Florida becomes the only U.S. state without a tax on commercial rent.
  • Estimated annual savings for businesses: $1.53 billion
  • This change is expected to benefit a wide range of Florida businesses, from local retailers to large office-based companies.

Florida’s popular back-to-school sales tax holiday is now permanent and covers the entire month of August.
