Do I have to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle in Florida?
Motorcycle accidents are treated differently than automobile accidents under Florida law. There are specific rules that apply to motorcyclists. By Florida law, only motorcyclists under the age of 21 are required to wear a helmet while on the road and they must identify their underage status with an easily identifiable, through design or color, license plate indicating such status. Bikers over the age of 21 are not required to wear a helmet provided they are covered by an insurance policy of at least $10,000 for medical injuries.
