Tampa Bay Red Light Ticket Attorney
Answering your most common questions about red light camera tickets
One of the big questions that comes up on red light camera tickets is if I pay the ticket within the prescribed time, which is usually thirty days, will my insurance company be notified and will my auto insurance rates increase?
In most states, if you get a traffic ticket and pay it, you are adjudicated guilty and points are assessed against your driving record. If you receive a withhold of adjudication, if you take a driving school or have a judge withhold or not asses points, then no points are assessed against your record. Red light camera tickets are different. They are like parking tickets. So, if you pay a red light camera ticket within the prescribed time, not only are there no points assessed against your driving record, but your insurance company doesn’t find out about it because it’s not a civil infraction in the way that we think of it. It’s more like a parking ticket.
If you’re concerned about your insurance company finding out about a red light camera ticket for running a red light, don’t worry about it. If you pay within the prescribed time, your insurance company won’t be notified and no points will be assessed against your driving record.
